Kate Novinc CAA, EdS is a dedicated healthcare professional, educator, and now a passionate author with over a decade of experience in the specialized field of anesthesiology.  She graduated from Case Western Reserve University’s Master of Science in Anesthesia (MSA) program in 2014, Cleveland campus. Following her graduation, she has served as a Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant (CAA) at the University of New Mexico Hospital (UNMH), an academic hospital with a respected Anesthesiology department.  There, Kate refined her expertise in pediatric operating rooms, delivering exceptional care to countless young patients.

Beyond her clinical work, Kate has embraced an influential educational role over the past two years as the Assistant Didactic Program Director for UNM’s newly established Master of Science in Anesthesia (MSA) program.  The program welcomed its inaugural cohort in the fall of 2024, a landmark moment in CAA education.  As a year-round professor and program faculty member, Kate has been instrumental in crafting this innovative curriculum, drawing on the leadership skills she developed after earning an EdS, Post Master’s Education Specialist Certificate in Educational Leadership, from UNM’s College of Education in 2020.

Kate’s profound dedication to her profession and students is matched only by her love for storytelling and her commitment to her family. Inspired by the deep bond she shared with her late mother, her best friend, who instilled in her the magic of books and a lifelong love of reading, Kate decided to pursue her dream of becoming an author. Tragically, her mother passed away in the summer of 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer. This devastating loss further motivated Kate to create a lasting legacy—a tribute to her mother, her son Laith, and the baby boy growing in her belly who has given her the strength to embark on this extraordinary path.

Kate’s debut book is a heartfelt tribute, dedicated to the rubies in her life: her mother, Nancy; her three-year-old son, Laith; and her unborn child. Through her words, she aims to inspire children and adults alike to follow their inner compass, seek peace and love, and cherish the connections that bring meaning to life. Her gratitude for the growth she’s experienced as a CAA, alongside her colleagues at UNMH, is evident on every page. Kate’s passion for storytelling unites personal reflection with universal themes, creating a truly resonant and impactful work.
